Typefall · a word drop puzzle for iPhone
Everything a writer needs, on one page and in one zip. The images are here at full size, the descriptions are ready to quote, and the list of what the game does not do is on this page rather than left for you to find out later.
Everything here is free to use in coverage of Typefall, in print or online, without asking us first.
Please do not change the icon or the wordmark. Crop the screenshots however your layout needs. If something you want is missing, write and ask.

Letters fall one at a time, and you steer each one into a word before the board reaches the top.
Typefall is a word drop puzzle for iPhone. One letter falls at a time down a board thirteen columns wide, and you steer it. Spell a word across or down and it is outlined rather than cleared, so you can take it or grow it into a longer one. Cross a word going across with a word going down and a single tap takes both. The letters are not random: each round loads real words and feeds you their letters, shuffled, so everything you are given can be spelled. There is no timer, no advertising and no sign-in, and the dictionary ships inside the app, so it plays offline.
What building this alone actually meant, in the developer's own words. Quote any part of it.
These were my goals for building Typefall as a solo developer. RELEASE SCHEDULE The App Store page opens for pre-order first. The app is released on 13 October 2026. That is also the first day the word-of-the-day list covers. ACCESSIBILITY Only the falling board is SpriteKit. I wrote every other screen in SwiftUI, so the lobby, the shop, settings, the lexicon and the game HUD all have a real accessibility tree. Controls carry labels, values and hints. The settings switches are real Toggle views, so the switch trait and the spoken on and off state come from the system. Reduce Motion stops the launch wordmark drift and the loading row animation. I would rather name the gaps myself. There is no Dynamic Type, no audio and no controller support. The app ships in English only. PRIVACY There is no account and no sign-in. The dictionary and the rarity data ship inside the app, so a whole run needs no network. The usage analytics are anonymous. I put scores, word counts and run lengths into bands before they are sent. No single run can be picked out of a day of traffic. A switch in Settings stops the analytics. I ask for no advertising identifier, so there is no tracking prompt. MONETIZATION The game is free. There is no advertising of any kind, between runs or for rewards. A run costs a life. A player holds three lives, and one comes back every two hours. The shop sells ten hints, a fourth life, and Infinite Lives, which removes the lives gate for good. There is no subscription. THE WORD LIST Words come from ENABLE2K, a public-domain English list. A blocklist takes words out of it. I decided each blocked word one at a time, rather than taking a public profanity list. None of those lists draws the line a word game needs. The rarity tiers come from a frequency corpus of 690.9 million words of film and television dialogue. A rare find is a word people rarely say, rather than one they rarely write. WORD OF THE DAY One word for each of 365 days, from 13 October 2026 to 12 October 2027. Every one is an exact WordNet lemma, shown with its WordNet gloss as a meaning. WordNet is Princeton University's, used under its licence, and the notice ships with the app. Matching the day's word builds a streak, which has a leaderboard and achievements of its own. GAME CENTER Game Center carries two leaderboards. One takes the score, and one takes the word-of-the-day streak. Sixteen achievements sit on three ladders, which count words found, streak length and ultra rare finds. ICLOUD The collected words, the score board and the streak days follow the player across devices. The merge is a set union, so no device can take a word back from another one. DESIGN The palette is four sepia neutrals and one amber. The amber only ever means "tap this". The whole game is set in the system monospaced face. No layout reads the screen size, so a taller phone shows more of the page instead of larger type.
Every screen comes twice. The framed file carries Apple's hardware and the store caption, which is what a reader recognises. The plain file is the bare capture, which is what you want if you are laying the page out yourself.

Straight off the device, not re-encoded. The second take opens on a board with five words already outlined, then plays them: TYPE and FALL taken one at a time, the WORD and DROP cross taken in one tap, and ANOA closing it as the first ultra rare find.

| Take two, vertical | 30 seconds. Opens on a board with five words outlined, then plays them. 1320 x 2868 | 2.4 MB | Download |
| Take two, landscape | The same 30 seconds, cut to 16:9. 1920 x 1080 | 0.9 MB | Download |

These are the values the app itself reads at run time. Use them and a layout will match the screenshots exactly.

The system monospaced face, which Apple names .AppleSystemUIFontMonospaced-Regular and .AppleSystemUIFontMonospaced-Bold. SF Mono is the closest thing you can install. The game sets every screen in it and uses nothing else.
Typefall is one word, with a capital T and nothing else capitalised. The full store name is Typefall — Word Drop Puzzle. The wordmark is spelled in eight letter tiles, the same way the game spells it.
These are choices, me as the developer had to take:
Typefall is made by one person, trading as Kreis Labs. The engine, the word list, the artwork, the icon and the copy are all one pair of hands. Every screen except the falling board is SwiftUI, which is what buys the game a real accessibility tree, real text entry and real layout.
